Components of SEG Display Systems
SEG frame components at their core consist of three essential elements: the aluminum frame structure, printed fabric graphic, and the silicone strip sewn into the graphics’ edge.
SEG FRAME COMPONENTS: ALUMINUM EXTRUDED FRAMES
Aluminum extrusions form the basis for the SEG frames. The SEG frame component includes a narrow groove that serves to hold the fabric graphic in place in the finished display. SEG frame component aluminum extrusions are relatively lightweight, durable and cost-effective compared with traditional signage hardware. It is also recyclable at the end of the frame’s life cycle.
SEG frames come in many varieties and are often customized to fit a specific space or application. Some common custom frame configurations include:
- SEG frame component configurations in multiple sizes from small to extra-large (without seams), and in multiple thicknesses.
- Custom SEG frame component geometries, including 3-dimensional options.
- Free-standing, suspended, or wall mounts are common applications,
displaying graphics on one or both sides. - Custom decorated treatments disguise everyday materials and transform
them into beautiful, high-end surfaces that fit with the user’s brand and image. Custom fixture decorating treatments including standard finishes such as wood, metal, stone/granite, carbon fiber, floral, and more. - Custom hardware and accessories are available, including magnetic hangers/posts and custom feet for standing displays.

SEG FRAME COMPONENTS: PRINTED FABRIC GRAPHICS
SEG frame component fabric graphics are nothing new in the graphic displays space, and have long been valued for their durability, light weight, ease of installation and cost-effectiveness. Usage of fabrics graphics for high-end signage and graphics, however, had been limited in the past by resolution issues with traditional methods of printing on fabric. Years ago, the viewer had to be standing far away from a printed fabric graphic to achieve any reasonably good resolution.
Thankfully, advances in printing technology for SEG frame components along with improved fabric substrate options have allowed printers to achieve crisp images and vibrant colors on SEG display components. A dramatic increase in image quality—combined with the advantages that fabric graphics have always enjoyed—make SEG fabric frames an extremely popular display solution.
SILICONE SEWING
The last step in constructing an SEG fabric frame is to marry the printed fabric graphics with the aluminum frame.
Whereas traditional graphics systems relied on adhesive or Velcro to affix graphics to frame structures, these methods were cumbersome for installers, and prone to wear and tear over time. SEG frame components solve these issues through the use of flat pieces of silicone that are sewn directly into the edge of the fabric and inserted into the narrow groove in the aluminum frame. The simplicity of this system makes installation and tear-down of SEG graphics quick and intuitive—possible even for a single person to complete in only a minute or two.
Together these three SEG frame components form a versatile, modular, cost-effective signage solution that is revolutionizing graphics display systems in a wide range of environments.
